Sheldon Hatch
Bait Casters Walleye Pro
Staff
Sheldon has been
fishing walleye since childhood, winning his first
fishing tournament when he was only fourteen years
of age. And, as luck would have it, he developed his
fishing skills growing up on the Bay of Quinte one
of North America’s top walleye producers.
His home lake is
now Mississippi Lake situated between Perth and Carleton
Place, Ontario. This body of water has challenged
his ability to catch walleye due to its shallow depth
and lack of walleye holding structure.
“Mississippi
is a lake where walleye live like bass - in the weeds…
so you have to go in after them.” – Sheldon
Hatch
After his first year
on the lake learning new shallow water techniques,
he won the 1st annual Bait Casters Pike & Pickerel
Tournament in May 2002.
When he is not targeting
walleye he enjoys fishing for lake trout, a species
that holds to bottom structure or suspends in open
water feeding on minnows just like walleye.
